Antique pair of Italian portraits from the first half of the 18th century. Oil on canvas artworks from the Genoese school attributable to the painter Giovanni Maria delle Piane (1660-1745), lacking authentication. Great portraitist, he worked between Parma and Genoa as a court painter for the Farnese and Bourbon families. He assimilated the new fashion of French portraiture characterised by the refinement of details and the worldliness of the figures. Oval-shaped paintings of notable pictorial quality found in every precious detail of the clothes. Antique contemporary frames in carved and gilded wood, with some signs of aging (see photo). Paintings already restored with relining, replacement of the frame and repainting in small spots. Paintings overall in excellent state of conservation. Sight size H 83 x W 61 cm.
